The cancer problem has always been a case of “too late too bad” but it does not have to be that way. All types of cancer can be effectively managed when detected early. They can even be prevented. If we know our risk level before we get sick, steps can be taken to prevent ourselves from having cancer. Information is also powerful weapon to fight cancer disease. Therefore, it has been our cardinal mission to educate the public on the important of health awareness and self-driven desire to conduct personal risk assessment related to cancer susceptibility.
Show moreIn all human endeavours (personal or professional context), risk assessment are routine standard operating procedure. However, in the context of personal health, risk assessment agenda is often side-lined and we only seek help and advice when illnesses happen. With the rapid advancement of big data technology, it has become possible to innovate non-invasive methods for self-assessment of cancer risk. This has been the impetus for us to create CARISA – a user-friendly tool in multi-language format for self-assessment of cancer risk for the five types of cancer (nasopharyngeal, colorectal, lung, breast, and cervical cancers). CARISA empowers each and every person to know their risk of getting cancers prior to seeking advice from health professionals with the aim of fostering behavioural change towards a healthier lifestyle in the community. It is part of the total and holistic approach in managing the cancer problem.
CARISA tool is STRICTLY and ONLY for assessing personal cancer risk.
Users must consult licenced medical professionals and doctors for cancer diagnosis.
There are a few different types of lung cancer, each of which may be created differently. Smoking is a major risk factor for developing lung cancer.
The foundation for CARISA analysis and assessment is based on the findings of pattern and behavioural studies on cancer done by the Prof. Edmund Sim, Principal Investigator in Molecular Biology, Medical Genetics and Cancer Genetics.
